My dad has been admitted to a hospice last week. He has lung, bowel and lymph node cancer. He’s now had a syringe driver put in and getting regular meds. It’s heartbreaking seeing him deteriorating every day. Trying to stay strong for mum but I’m struggling with how quick it’s taking my dad.. was only diagnosed on 21/9.
The hospice have been wonderful, and have arranged for me to get counselling starting next week.

  • So sorry about your dad Sparklingshell, I have heard great things about hospices and I'm sure the counselling will be comforting x

  • Thanks so much for replying, the hospice really is an amazing place and the care team are outstanding x

  • Hi Sparklingshell76,very sorry about your dad.My husband is in our local hospice, this is his third week.He has lung, spine, liver and now brain cancer. He has been very confused and consequently difficult to look after but the hospice staff have all been amazing. He is now at the stage where he is mainly just sleeping which is a blessing for all of us as he is calm and pain free. I am so grateful he is getting such excellent care.

  • Hi Alice thanks so much for messaging. Glad your husband is comfortable and pain free now. The care in the hospice makes such a difference they really are such wonderful people. I lost my dad yesterday, but when I last saw him on Sunday he was chatting and laughing with me which was such a comfort. Thinking of you sweetpea xxx
