My mum 57 has just been diagnosed with a bowel tumour and metastatic lesions on her liver. The livers too and. They can’t drain it so it’s poisoning her. They can’t fix that they can’t start chemo and sort the bowel for surgery. So they’re basically sending her home to die. I don’t what to do. I can’t cope myself how am I supposed to help her. She was fine a week ago. There was no symptoms. If she hadn’t become slightly jaundiced she wouldn’t have even come to the hospital. How do I help her?

Welcome; I am sorry that this post has gone unanswered for a few days, but I can also see that you have had some responses in the Family and Friends Forum of the Macmillan Website which I hope has been beneficial in some way.  It must be extremely difficult for you and for your family to have heard this news and to be told that there is no help.

It is a frightening time, one which you will not know how to deal with the emotions, of madness, sadness, hate, love and fear, and it is difficult for others to offer more than words,

Within this website there are areas which may be able to offer you some further understanding, everything is happening so quickly for you that it is going to take every ounce of strength you have to find your way through the darkness. We are here for you.

This Link is focused on people who have been diagnosed with advanced cancer,  although difficult to read in places it may offer you some guidance on how you can support your Mum.

This Link is for people supporting someone with Cancer

And this Link is about benefits and financial support that Mum is entitled to, including Personal independence payments, Blue Badge and others

This is a very difficult experience, I do hope that you find on these forums some support, to be able to see you through some of the difficult days ahead.

    Thinking of you
