  • My mum has battled ovarian cancer for nearly 6 years. It has recently caught up with her. A week into lock down she suddenly became very weak and started to feel very sick. She collapsed one night trying to get up the stairs. Since then things have changed rapidly. She is now in a hospital bed down stairs. She is on a syringe driver for anti sickness and a wheel chair to get about as is too weak to take more than a few steps. She had struggled with sickness for 3 weeks. She decided to go into the hospice which was hard for us all as no visitors are allowed. When she arrived they were concerned she may have covid 19 after a terrible few days the test came back negative. She has a blood transfusion, iron infusion and some other help in hospital and is home again. She is more stable in terms of sickness and is able to eat and drink a little but I know the end is getting near. I’m finding it so lonely being her carer. The rest of the world either seems to be locked away or making the most of the time off. I just wish it was different. Anyone else out there had similar experiences? Would be nice to chat to anyone else In a Similar situation.
  • Hi , I noticed your post was unanswered and popped over from Carers. I'm sorry to hear about your mum. The end days are very sad; emotions go all over the place, but for me it was the overwhelming sadness. Watching our loved ones go through this is a torment although I know our support means so much to them. Share gentle hugs and try to do as much Face Time or similar as you can to get emotional support, whatever you can to ease things a little.

    Love and hugs,

If you find dust in my house, write your name in it. When the signatures overlap I'll get the polish.
