Hello,
supporting my Dad who has terminal pancreatic cancer. Finished 4th round of gemcitabine and side effects are beginning to become a problem for him (he’s81).
i realise that compared to lots of you, what my Dad is going through is fairly gentle, but it’s difficult for him.
how do you cope with the shivers induced by the chemo & the resulting chills? Does anyone have any tips I can pass on?
thankyou

Hi
I'm sorry to hear that your dad is suffering from the side effects of chemotherapy. I haven't had this treatment, so don't have any experience to draw on, but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered.
It may be an idea to also post this question in the pancreatic cancer group, which I see you're a member of, and the folks over there may be able to help further.
You could also post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist nurses will respond within 2 working days. I presume that he has already spoken to his chemo team about his side effects.

Meg Mac,
Sorry to hear about your dad. My mother got a lot of comfort from a weighted blanket that helped control the shivers and chills. They are readily available to buy online and come with some sort of sand or beads in them that give them a lot of weight.
Best wishes
Thankyou for responding.
I will try to get hold of one to try, seems like a good idea.
Very grateful
