Hello, I’m new to group. My husband who has had a recurrence of oesophageal cancer with secondaries in chest and stomach, was doing remarkably well. After his discharge from hospital and given over to palliative care, he was able to eat small meals and put back on a stone in weight! The district nurses and McMillan nurses stepped down as he was doing well. He found he had a numbness in left foot/ankle which at first we put down to a Parkinsons diagnosis, however he then suddenly could not lift right arm. He was sent for urgent scan in case of spinal cord compression but no mets seen there or in brain. His right foot is now affected and he can no longer stand. Has anyone else heard of this? Doctors say it is general decline due to cancer but it doesn’t add up.
Hello , I hope you don’t mind me popping into this group, I was looking at some unanswered posts. Your post struck a cord as my Dad had Parkinson’s (although his passing was 19 years ago). I can’t answer your question about general decline and things not adding up, but wanted to give you some moral support at this awkward time for you.
If you are still mulling things over and not had a response here I thought I might suggest that you ring the Macmillan support line 0808 808 0000 or pop a question in the ask an expert section.

There is also a Macmillan section in information and support that goes through what to expect, that might be a helpful read, I’m a bit of a reader myself I’m afraid which is why I’m suggesting it, although I like to be very optimistic for myself and friends.
