Hi everyone, I’m being admitted on Friday and my transplant will take place on the following Friday 25th June.
I’m feeling positive, keen to get on with it and nervous all at the same time.
I’ve already done 4 weeks isolation for intensive chemo so I know what to expect to a certain extent but I am expecting this to be tougher. I’ll let you know how I get on Blush

  • Hi Louise A

Just thought I'd send you an update, but first how are you doing?

My wife is now day +2 following her SCT for AML. doing well, only fatigue and nauseous for now. Has long immunosuppressive drugs infusion yesturday and probably more today.

Her nuts are getting very low now so we expect her to be transferred into the main Hospital over the weekend so as to keep a close eye on a y infections ect. It's,a bit sad as I will have to head off home but tbh I will feel better that she has the docs close at hand and she won't be alone.

Sorry NUITS not nuts, it's not me having the treatment LOL.

  • Haha the whole process does send you a bit nuts!

Really glad to hear she’s doing well, it all sounds very positive. Shame you have to leave her but the docs and nurses will take good care of her.

I’m doing really well thanks, my energy is coming back quicker than I thought it would, I can now manage a short walk and have been pottering round the house, I feel quite well. I’ve got a few niggly infections (water infection and oral thrush at the mo) but they said that’s par for the course while I’m immunosuppressed.

Fingers crossed for no drama over the next few weeks for your wife.

    Take care

  • Great to hear your doing well, keep it going.

  • Hi Louise, good to hear things are going well it is a day to day progression as you build yourself and your immune system up.

I always post that my head SCT Consultant told me that going through SCT treatments was like doing a boxing match and a marathon every day you were on treatments and this was all done without any training……
