Hi, my husband has myeloma and we are currently in cycle 3 of chemo and hopefully he will then get a stem cell transplant. All is going well. However I am feeling considerably lonely. As everyone will relate your world does that full 180 and it’s horrendous. The 30 day novelty factor has worn off for family and friends and I find myself increasingly by myself. The odd phone call I reply with all is well. I don’t want people to feel I’m guilt tripping them if I say anything more. I just don’t know who to talk too. X
Hi Gerbera and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am sorry to hear about your husband’s Myeloma diagnosis.
I am Mike and so help out around our various Blood Cancer groups as well as our dedicated Stem Cell Transplant group.
I know from experience having been on my cancer journey for over 26 years with two very rare, hard to treat types of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphomas (one incurable), Asbestosis and Prostate Cancer that navigating this journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but talking with and getting support from people who have walked or are walking the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot… I especially understand as I have had 2 Allogenic (donor) Stem Cell Transplants (June 2014 then Oct 2015)
As you see, the Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)…… and I see you have al ready found and joined our dedicated…….
……. support groups.
These groups are a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from family members who are navigating the same support journey.
Do get back to me if you need to further navigating the community.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
