I have an ileostomy because of FAP (causes bowel cancer), and over the past few months I've been exploring some ideas for products that might improve day-to-day life for ostomates.
Before investing more time and resources into development, I'd love to get some honest feedback from the community and learn more about the challenges others face.
A few questions:
• What are your biggest frustrations with your ostomy appliance or accessories?
• Are there situations where your pouch gets in the way of daily activities, exercise, clothing choices, travel, sleeping, or intimacy?
• Have you developed any workarounds or "hacks" that help you manage your pouch throughout the day?
• Is there a product you wish existed that current manufacturers don't seem to offer?
One thing I'm particularly curious about is whether others experience a tradeoff between daytime comfort and nighttime capacity. For example, would you be interested in having the option of a lower-profile pouch during the day for comfort, discretion, or clothing choices, while still having enough capacity overnight to reduce the likelihood of waking up to empty your pouch?
If this is something you've dealt with, how do you currently manage it?
I'm not trying to sell anything at this stage—I'm simply trying to learn from the community and understand whether the problems I've experienced are shared by others.
