I am going from one emotion to another in quick succession I just don’t know what to do
I am so scared I still have to have some more investigations but the outlook is not looking good so far.
Each stage so far has been bad news after bad news and I don’t know how to process it and come to terms. How do I regulate my emotions and try to find a way to get through a day without falling apart.
How do people do this I’m not brave even though I’m trying to be for my family and myself.
Hi Juniper and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your IDC diagnosis.
I know from experience having been on my cancer journey for over 26 years with two very rare, hard to treat types of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphomas (one incurable), Asbestosis and Prostate Cancer that navigating this journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but talking with and getting support from people who have walked or are walking the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot.
As for me I am a very pragmatic person… I have been handed a few crap deals over the years…. all I can do is live through it as best as I can.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) …. and I do see that you have already joined our dedicated……..
…….. support group.
This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
To connect in with the group please click on the link above……. then once the group page opens you can then introduce yourself to the group by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.
You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
As always the Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits and financial guidance or just a listening ear.
Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
Thank you highlander I think I did it right I put it in general discussion so I can get advice on what other people do in this situation how do they mange to even smile
Hi Juniper well done getting your post up in the group and I am sure you will get some great support.
Back in 1999 when I was diagnosed with my first of 4 cancers, being my rare type of incurable T-Cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma the then median survival for this type of NHL was set at 3-5 years.
But I am now 10.5 years out from my last treatment, tuned 70 last month and I am still living a great life.
There is always hope until hope runs out…… and in my family HOPE = Have Only Positive Expectations Xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
