Hello Hubmuminlaw
I am Brian, one of the Community Champions here on the online Community. I am sorry to find you joining us but I am sure your friend will appreciate all the support you can give her during this time.
Supporting someone with cancer can be difficult at times as we all react to the diagnosis and treatment in our own way so here's a link with some information that should help you:
How-to-support-someone-with-cancer.
On the Community we also have a dedicated group for family and friends where this topic comes up quite often and here's the link you need to join this group:
Just click on the link I have provided and when the page opens up click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined the group you can introduce yourself in the "New Here - Say Hello" section. You can copy and paste or repost your post above.
I hope the above helps and I wish you and your friend well moving forward.
Best wishes - Brian.
