Advanced Prostate Cancer

I'm a 74 year old male, who was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in May 2025, with a high PSA level of over 300.

I had an MRI and my urologist informed me the cancer had spread to bone and lymph nodes. He started me on a double Firmagon injection into the stomach on 30 May 2025 and one injection a month afterwards.

In September 2025, my PSA level had reduced to 21. The Firmagon injection was discontinued and I was started on docetaxel chemotherapy (a 1 hour infusion administered every 3 weeks over 18 weeks - 6 sessions in total).

In November 2025, I commenced to receive an Xgeva injection, one every 3 months for bone strengthening. I was also prescribed Relugolix 120mg tablet, taken once a day, to lower testosterone.

In December 2025, I was prescribed further hormone treatment with Darolutamide (4 x 300mg tablets/day

On 07 January 2026, I finished chemo and my PSA level was at 2.07. I continued on the tablets.

I had a CT bone scan done in February 2026 and was told by my oncology team they were happy with my progress but they ordered a PSMA-PET scan.

Unfirtunately, the reults of the PSMA-PET scan, done at the end of April 2026, revealed that the some cancer was still active.  Retesting the biopsy and BRCA testing will now be done to determine future treatment.

Needless to say I'm disappointed. As my situation is current, if there are others in a similar position I would very much appreciate to hear to hear from them, and hopefully exchange information and give support.

Thank you.

  • My partner has recently been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer which is in the bones and Lymph nodes and I am terrified of what this means for him.

We haven't been given the prognosis yet as he only had his biopsy 2 days ago but had his PET scan almost 2 weeks ago.

He is in a bad way mentally, emotionally and physically and is convinced he has been given a death sentence. I am being strong for him but it has affected me in every way and not sleeping barely eating and scared to death of losing him
