Hi

my husband was recently diagnosed and is having hormone therapy. Injections and has taken xtandi for last 4 weeks

I am feeling quite desperate as he is really struggling. We had to visit a and e last week due to pains in chest which seems to be acid reflux. His blood pressure has spiked and now taking bp meds too.

We are feeling rather alone as the cancer hospital have not returned our calls as promised and he was told to stop taking Xtandi by the 24 hour helpline. They said hospital would return call the next day but they didn’t. He has continued on Xtandi as we have telephone consultation with consultant this week. He is getting anxiety and is up and down with moods, he is stubborn and won’t call the 24 hour helpline again - but I see his point there doesn’t seem to be help there as I rang it twice last week.

Has anyone else had anxiety with Xtandi, I’ve also read that omeprazole sometimes does not work properly with Xtandi …. I thought we would have more support from the hospital

  • Hello Carole (

I am Brian one of the Community Champions here at Macmillan. The Community is divided up into cancer specific groups or forums and I would advise you to join the Prostate Group where you will "meet" people in the same or similar situation - here's the link you need.

    Prostate cancer forum

Once the page opens up just click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. You can then introduce yourself in the "New Here - Say Hello" section (You can copy and paste or repost the post from above). I can assure you of a warm welcome as I am in my 4th year of my persona; prostate cancer journey.

I look forward to "meeting" you again in our part of the Community.

    Best wishes - Brian.
