After weeks of critical illness my partner has been found to have a severe very rare type of cancer and is starting chemo today after only being diagnosed a few days ago. He is very ill already and fragile and I am scared and devastated and completely exhausted after three month of not sleeping or eating worrying myself. I am the only real support he has and it’s brought me to my limits …
Hi Evamaria and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am sorry to see you joining us and to hear about your partner.
I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.
I see you have tagged Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma at the bottom of your post…… I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 44 with one if the rare types of Cutaneous T-Cell NHL (CTCL) my type is Mycosis Fungodes.
Eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of aggressive Peripheral T-Cell NHL was then presenting so I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.
We do have a dedicated T-Cell Lymphoma support group.
This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support. To connect in with the group please click on the link below…….
……… once the group page opens you will see a [Black - Click to Join - Banner] at the bottom of the page, click in this box and this will then confirm that you have joined the group.
You can then introduce yourself to the group by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.
I will keep an eye open for you and so can give you further help.
Thank you so much Mike, I am touched by the warm welcome. I shall check out the dedicated site.
I feel so incredibly alone with all this. I am not usually a person who asks for help, but I fear I can’t do this alone.
When you put up a post in the T-Cell Group give us a little more info
What type of CTCL he has?
What hospital is he being treated at?
What exact chemo is he having?
I have done that. Since I feel I need general advise on how to cope with this situation, should I post elsewhere too?
Before you post anywhere else on the site where is he being treated?…… are you in the UK?
Yes, sorry, forgot that. He is in Exeter, the Royal Devon Exeter Hospital
Great, I will put some info into my reply to your post in the T-Cell Group ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
