My husband has been diagnosed with diffused peritoneum mesothelioma. The prognosis is 18-22 months although immunotherapy may help to slow it down. Can anyone share a success story please? He will be fitted with a permanent drain for his ascetics next week then treatment should start the following week. Obviously e have no idea how his body will respond. Because of this news we were hoping to do a 35 day cruise in January. WI’ll this be possible? Would he get insurance? Would they stop the treatment for this type of holiday? He is a fit 58 year old

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but sorry to hear about your husband’s Mesothelioma diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis in the family can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type or support challenges will help you a lot……. I have a completely different type of cancer and treatment journey although I do also have Asbestosis.

As for travel insurance, this may a challenge. Do not book anything until you have cover in place…..  I suggest you call a few insurers directly as this means that you have answered all the questions correctly and in doing this a suitable policy can be offered and price given.
