I'm new to the group, a couple of weeks ago I found a lump in my breast and thought nothing of it. I've always had lumps that have been cysts.

I thought I best go get it checked to be on the safe side the Doctor has found 2 more lumps after examination with one been under my armpit.

Have had the call and appointment booked for next Tuesday, I have been the clinic before but have awaited a letter a week later for the appointment the following week. Maybe overthinking it but didn't expect a call so soon and to be booked in so quickly.

Now I'm scared, thinking the worst.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It's natural to fear the worst when you've found something and your doctor refers you but these new lumps might not be cancerous just like your previous ones.

The online community is divided into different support forums so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer forum which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

I wouldn't read anything into the speed with which you've got an appointment as appointments become available all the time. For example, I got a letter a couple of weeks ago to attend a mammogram. This was a mistake and the person I spoke to at the hospital said they'd cancel it.

On Monday I got a reminder text to attend tomorrow. The appointment hadn't been cancelled. Obviously I phoned up and the appointment has now been cancelled, but this appointment will now have been given to the next person on the list who might, like you, be wondering why they've got an appointment so quickly but it's just because one has become available.

I hope that your lumps turn out to be cysts as before.

  • hey, in a similar position. Went to dr Monday for a lump, where they referred on. I received the hospital appointment ten minutes after leaving. I’ve been before to breast clinic but waited a week for a letter & that time the gp was more hopeful. Also a mom of boys! So sorry you’re going through this. Good luck x

  • Hey,

I'm so sorry your going through this too.

The whole attitude of my Doctor this time was different, she even said if I needed someone to talk too while waiting for the appointment please call and arrange one with her. I've never had that before so to get a call a couple of hrs later to arrange the appointment has kind of worried me more.

I hope your appointment is quick and your not waiting and worrying.

Good luck to you too x

  • thank you. Oh bless you. It does worry you more when they aren’t re assuring this time round & the app is so quick to book. Thank you. Mine is also Tuesday like yours. Is anything helping you while you wait? Thank you x

  • 100% it does, and I just can't help but overthink this.

I'm keeping fingers crossed for both of us on Tuesday, although it's not far away it already feels like it's dragging.

Honestly at the minute my children are just keeping me occupied as they always do but they are non the wiser so want to try and keep it that way at least until I know ow what is what.

    What about yourself x

  • Bless you. Totally understandable. I feel it drags more each day. Fingers crossed! Yes I am finding the kids are keeping me busy too x

  • Hopefully the weekend goes quick enough. And before we know it Tuesday will be here.

Please keep me updated with how you get on and wishing you all the luck in the world x

  • Hopefully goes quick for you too. Will do. & you! Best of luck lovely x

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the community to you as well.

I'm sorry to read that like Mommyofboys you're also waiting to be seen by the breast clinic.

Can I point you in the same direction as Mommyofboys, ie the breast cancer forum as you'll get lots of support there.

    keeping everything crossed for you.
