I went yesterday to the breast clinic I had an ultrasound and biopsy then saw the consultant who told me I have breast cancer that's before any biopsy results I can't eat or sleep I feel sick I have an appointment on Monday fir the results I'm scared stiff

  • Can anyone help me with what to expect at my post biopsy meeting tomorrow?

Will they tell me what sort of BC it is? And what treatment plan is? Or does that come after the operation for lump removal. Trying to prepare myself?

Stupid question. did you feel better after that meeting?? Did you feel like there was a plan or did it just all see more real and scary??
sorry to just ask questions - I hope to be able to help answer some questions at some point x

  • Hi Poohbear43,

I got my result at my appointment post biopsy. They told me the type of cancer HER2 and treatment was lumpectomy and removal of 2 sentinel nodes.

Providing the nodes are clear I get result from this on 20th June op was done on the 5th. My treatment will be radio therapy and hormone suppressant.

If the nodes are positive then I will be given another op to remove them. Then chemo, then radio therapy and hormone suppressant.

I did feel slightly relieved when I got the results as you are given a treatment plan. I also feel slightly better since op and they've cut it out my body.

I ama bit tense waiting for node biopsy results. Trying to take one step at a time.

I am 5 days post op and feel fine. Have only used paracetamol last couple of days. More to prevent discomfort when doing exercises.

I Hooe this helps. Stay positive. One step at a time xx

  • Miss Molly Thankyou.
so pleased you are healing well. May I rudely ask how old you are?? And think you said like me they didn’t spot your lump on mammogram only on Ultrasound (mine is supposedly 15mm!). May I ask What size did they think yours was - I find it extraordinary mine wasn’t spotted in 2 mammograms.

also when they ultrasounded you did they say anything about your lymph nodes initially??

so sorry for the barrage of questions.

Truthfully I have 20000 more!! I do promise to pay this forward and share my experiences if it’s helpful!

  • Sorry - rude to ask your age and not tell you mine I’m 50 and sort of mid menopause. - I think. I’m on mirena coil so hard to know really. Also on HRT. Which I have immediately stopped ……

  • Hi c22,

I am 62years old. My lump didn't show on my routine mammogram. It did show up on the next sorry if I wasn't clear. They said it was probably a cyst as I had a call back a couple of years ago and at that point they said it was cysts. However the ultra sound and mammogram said cancer. The biopsy confirmed this.

My lump was 2cm at the ultra sound she said she couldn't see anything in lymph nodes however the biopsy would confirm.

I had HRT in my 50s and previous to that gad the mirena coil. Wishing now I hadn't. Xx

  • Yes it’s interesting isn’t it

I have slightly lost track - have they told you what stage / type you have? Do they do that immediately??

btw you sound amazingly brave and positive and I know you have this!!

sorry if I’m pestering you with questions.

    our stories sound very similar

  • Hi, you're not pestering me. Happy to share with you as going through similar. Friends and family help but they're not sure what to say.

After the initial biopsy my consultant told me I was HER2 I can't remember if she said negative or positive to be honest. The biopsy tells them what kind you have. They then determine which treatment path to take.

I asked what stage and she said she would let me know following lymph nodes biopsy. If not spread its stage 1. If moved depending where it's travelled to informs stage.

I'm trying to stay positive but I have my moments when panic sets in.

I haven't googled anything yer I'm too scared to. My nurse told me to not do that and just ask consultant who will tell me everything I need to know xx

  • How are you doing? Did you get your results today? I have my op next week

  • Hi I'm feeling a lot better tonight the consultant was lovely. He took his time to explain everything and the treatment plan. He reassured me they had removed it all. I have her2+estrogen+. I am having chemo to make sure that no sleeping cells anywhere and because this type may return. I will then have radiotherapy and hormone suppressants. He reassured me that the hormone suppressants holds it at bay. So fingers crossed all goes to plan. How are you doing tonight xx

  • I am feeling ok, having a plan now makes me feel in control again if that makes sense. My news wasn't as bad as I had been told. It's not showing in my lymphnodes. I have my lumpectomy next Thursday hopefully just followed with radiotherapy and hormone therapy. My son has taken it well but my partner is struggling massively
