I went yesterday to the breast clinic I had an ultrasound and biopsy then saw the consultant who told me I have breast cancer that's before any biopsy results I can't eat or sleep I feel sick I have an appointment on Monday fir the results I'm scared stiff

  • This sounds like you have had encouraging news. So happy for you and so good to have plans in place to kick its bum!!

so I’ve been told lumpectomy then radiotherapy then hormone treatment. It’s estrogen positive don’t know about progesterone or HER status yet. Apppintment with surgeon next week ahead of lumpectomy. Do you think he’ll tell me more then? Or does that come after the operation

is it possible that chemo might be suggested then? Not quite sure if the plan typically changes at some point?

  • My partner looked more shattered than me also. I think they don't know how to cope or what to say. I suppose they panic a bit also not being able to help. He will relax a bit once you've had your op. It's a scary thing and a lot to get your head around. Good luck with your up keep us updated xx

  • My surgeon told me then my cancer nurse sat with us for about an hour and went through everything in more detail and answered all our questions

  • My surgeon said to me provided they get it all it I wouldn't need chemo, but they can't ever rule it out

  • That was good but it's a lot to process. Sometimes we have selective hearing. I only heard the negative words aggressive and chemo. It took today's appointment to bring me back down. Hope he is able to process info and relax a bit xx

  • He suffers with his mental health anyway but he saw his GP today.  He won't talk to me about it which I understand, he feels guilty as he didn't come to the first appointment but I never expected to be told then I had cancer I thought I would have to wait. We will get through this together but he definitely took it harder than me

  • I hope he gets the support for his mental health to then support you.

I think it depends on the results of the biopsy before they decide. I was pre op just radiation and hormone treatment but the biopsy showed it to be fast growing. That's why I have now to have chemo. It's preventative for me.

I'm sure yours will go to plan xx

  • I will let you know how my surgery goes x

  • I had my surgery on Wednesday they brought it forward a day, surgery went well but I did stay in overnight. I am not in any pain really just tender but I think I might need to get my blood pressure checked as I have felt a little light headed today and had some blurry vision

  • Awe, that's good surgery over. Now you can relax and heal.

Get GP to check your BP it may be raised with the worry. I got put on Amlodopine for my BP it's raised, but I'm attributing it to all the extra worry a cancer diagnosis gives.

The GP said I may be able to come of them when my stress subsides

    Get well soon xx
