Hi there

I’m new to this, my husband got diagnosed with non Hodgkin lymphoma on 3 rd October and got told two days before we were due to travel to see our son in Australia that it was high grade/quick growing so couldn’t travel as they wanted to due various scans etc, I went on my own which was very daunting and emotional, he wanted me to go but felt bad leaving him, anyway while I was away they done tests etc and then was told as well as having a lump on his neck he had one in his stomach and chest.

i came home and the chemotherapy started on 1st November he is having 6 cycles of d 5 days at a time, he will be starting the 4th cycle this Monday 8th January, just putting it out there if there are any other partners of cancer patients with any advice as sometimes I just feel so overwhelmed by it all and feel like I’m running 100 mph and sometimes feel so alone.

anyone else feel like this ?

  • Hi  and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your husbands Lymphoma diagnosis.

I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups. I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ may be different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

My main chemo (R-EPOCH) had me in hospital 5 nights/6 days on my 2 IV pumps 24/7 for over 120hrs for my 6 cycles so I do understand this very well.

There are over 60 types and sub-types of Lymphoma so we can’t have a group for every type but these are our main Lymphoma groups that would cover your husbands Lymphoma type.

    General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma

    Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

    Mantel Cell Lymphoma

    T-cell lymphomas

These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from both patients and family members.

To join a group first click on one or more of the “Bold Links” I have created above then once the group page opens click on “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)

You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

I will keep an eye open for you but if you are not sure what type you have pleased do get back to me on this post and I will help you out further.
