Hey I’m Chelsea,

my mum got diagnosed in may, she is on cycle 3 of DVTD and she’s really struggling with her legs and back. I’m dreading when she goes in for her stem cell transplant as I know it’s going to make her really ill. It’s awful to see as we do everything together she’s my best friend. She feels so lonely as she’s on her own most of the time apart from when I’m taking her to the hospital and back. I just hope she comes through it and she can’t start living her life again.

  • Hi Chelsea   and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis. I am Mike and I help out around our blood cancer groups.

A cancer diagnosis in the family can be such a challenging and stressful time but I do hope you will find the Community a safe place to get support and to ask your questions.

The Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) so can I recommend you join and post in our supportive Myeloma support group. This is a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis and treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from family members who are navigating the same journey.

You may also want to join our dedicated Stem cell transplant group. I have had two Stem Cell Transplants (SCT) for my type of blood cancer. SCT is a rather unique journey so it would be good for you to come t with others who have navigated this.

If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) Group links I have created above. Once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go.

I will keep an eye open for you in the groups ((hugs))

    Mike (Thehighlander)
