Hi I’m new to this group. It was recommended by the macmillan financial guidance service. I was diagnosed with lymphoma in November last year had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and was given the all clear in April this year. It is my 30th wedding anniversary next year and we have booked a cruise. I have had a few quotes for travel insurance and they are over £1500. This is half of the money that I paid for the cruise I know I’ve had cancer but I’m in remission. Can anyone recommend a company that would possibly take a certificate from my consultant to say that my cancer has now gone. It’s only a 7 day cruise if I found a lump in that time I would wait until I got home to seek medical advice.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade NHL eventually reaching Stage 4a so although my Lymphoma I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

Getting affordable Travel Insurance can be a challenge and at times the price could be higher than the cost of the holiday.

For me it was not until I was two years in remission before I could get a price that was less than I was going to pay for the holiday.

The main challenge is infections. I had no infections all the way through my treatment but they kicked in during the two years after my treatments.

Have a look through the 'recommended travel insurance' thread in our Travel insurance group as it's where the majority of recommendations from other forum members are. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. You might also want to look at this thread as it includes a link to a Travel Insurance Directory.

    Happy hunting.

PS……. these are our main Lymphoma groups below.

    Hodgkin's Lymphoma

    General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma

    Follicular Lymphoma

    Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

    Mantel Cell Lymphoma

    T-cell lymphomas

    CLL, SLL, HCL

These are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
