Good evening my name and francesco, it is a pleasure to make doors of this forum. I am writing on behalf of my father who is 63 years old. Six months ago, the first spontaneous vertebrae fractures began, with stenosis of the canal. He is operated on but immediately after the operation other fractures always vertebrae, also operated on these. in the meantime the general pains in the bones increase to the point of not even being able to stay in bed. The doctors are convinced that it is a non-secreting multiple myeloma but the bone biopsies and the modullary aspirate are negative. So he has pains beyond any human conception, since resulting negative biopsies do not start the cure from myeloma. Has it ever happened that there may be a myeloma with negative biopsies? thank you all
Hi francesco Fra and welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although I am so sorry to hear about your father ongoing medical challenges.
This can be a very stressful time for the family but I do hope you will find the community a safe place to get support and ask your questions.
I am Mike and I help out around our various Blood Cancer groups. I don’t have Myeloma but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare, incurable type of NHL Stage 4a so although my Blood Cancer ‘type’ is different I do understand the challenges of getting a clear diagnosis as it took over a year and 6 biopsies to eventually find the cancer cells to prove my consultants suspicions.
It is important to understand the should your father be diagnosed with Myeloma, like my type of blood cancer it is incurable but very treatable.
The Community has various support groups (discussion rooms) so can I recommend that you consider joining our supportive Myeloma group. This will be a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and talk with others who are supporting family and friends on their treatment pathway.
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) link I have created above. Then once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
Give me a shout if you need further help.
Best regards.
