Hi,
I wondered if anyone would know the answer to my question.
My Brother 25, was diagnosed with AML in October and has had two rounds of chemotherapy treatment.
He now has a donor for a stem cell transplant and he is booked in for the middle of February after his 3rd round of treatment to have the procedure in hospital.
As I am his only visitor and care giver I am worried that they may put him in isolation before during and after his transplant without any visitors due to covid.
Has anyone else had a Sct during the pandemic and had to isolate with no visitors allowed?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thank you!
Hi and welcome to the online community
A cancer diagnosis always poses lots of questions both for the person with it and also their family and friends.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the acute myeloid leukaemia group and the stem cell transplants for blood cancers group which are great places to ask questions and share experiences about this type of cancer and it's treatment. Can I also recommend that you join the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and emotions.
To join these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your brother's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help

Hi and a second welcome to the community.
Please do join and put up the same post in the stem cell transplants for blood cancers group as this is the best place to get support on this rather unique journey - I know the journey rather well as I have had 2 donor Stem Cell Transplants (June2014 then Oct 2015) for my NHL and they saved my life.
I will keep an eye open for you in group.
Thank you so much for your help I will put some more info in my profile.
Many thanks,
Grace
