Nearly 1 year on from diagnosis, 2 different forms of treatments that failed, now on a 3rd stage docetaxel course which has kicked me until I'm in the gutter.

I have been strong & positive, but upon the end of my second treatment, where the tumor had grown back & bigger that when we started, that all went out of the window & all I feel is despair.

I've maybe the hope of a trial or 2 but that's it, how do you get your head around how far down the line you are are & how do you managed to drag any amount of positivity back to your days...

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community.

I am so sorry to read about how you are felling, a cancer treatment pathway is such a challenge and a true rollercoaster of emotions.

I total understand as I have been on my rollercoaster for over 22 years (hit my community name for my story). How did I get through all these years?…… the main thing I kept at the front of my thinking was there was always hope until there is none so I always looked to the future with hope.

Talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey will help you navigate this challenging time.

The New to Community is like the Community Reception area and as there are many cancer types and experiences so likewise the Community has many support groups but you have not said what type of cancer you have, but you can look through this list and join the appropriate group for you type of cancer as this will be a good place for you to connect with other folks who may be on the same cancer treatment pathway.

Navigating the community will depend on the device you are using. To join a group just click on the green link and find the best group. Once in the group scroll down and choose 'click to join' or 'join' on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a post by clicking  on ‘New Thread’ or ‘New here, say hello’ then hit the box with the X on the top right (phones).

You could just copy and paste the text from this your first post and you can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

All the very best…… but always around on this thread to talk more.
