My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer 19 September last year. We were not expecting it at all. He has advanced copd and the consultant was looking at lung reduction followed by lung transport. Then suddenly called in after a Pet scan to be told lung cancer in left lobe. So no longer able to have either lung reduction or transplant.
even worse news followed that, due to his copd and breathing problems there was no treatment available. So we asked the usual question to be told 6 to 12 months.
He is 59 and until then as active as he could be.
we are lucky nearly a yr on and he’s fighting so hoping we will get another Christmas with him. But it’s hard watching him deteriorate and struggle
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that your husband has been diagnosed with lung cancer and that there is no treatment available for him.
I can see that you've joined the lung cancer group which I'm sure you'll find is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others who are either dealing with this cancer themselves or are a family member of the person with cancer.
Could I also recommend that you join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a safe and supportive place to share your feelings and get support from others who have someone living with cancer.
To join this group just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
x

Thankyou so much for the information and the link. As you can see I’m new to this and after 6 months of looking and deciding whether to join, I’ve finally decided to start to talk about and look for support.
Thankyou again I’ll have a look at the link x
