Hi to all visiting this site

I guess a warm hello to all for a start.

I am diagnosed with vaginal cancer, which has travelled to my lymph nodes.

As I guess everyone can understand, you think, my goodness, my life has changed forever now, and tears occasionally flow in private.

I have already had my biopsy; I did not realise that the first part of my new journey would be so painful, I literally can not even sit, let alone go to the toilet without pain.

My first PET scan was last week and showed that cancer so far had not yet travelled past my lymph nodes.

Today is Sunday; my team meet next Tuesday night to determine what is next on the agenda for my treatment and so forth.

It seems that first surgery removing my four lymph nodes in my pelvic region, the first 2+ weeks in hospital away from my husband of 30 years.

Next, it is discussed that chemo, internal radiotherapy and external radiotherapy.

Regardless of my own journey that has just begun, I wish all here the very warmest thoughts and kindest best wishes on their own journey at whatever stage you may be at during your own personal cancer experiences albeit all the ups and downs and hope we may all find in us to stay as strong as possible whilst supporting each other.

I will be bluntly honest I am totally frightened at the diagnosis and the long journey ahead of me.

Many thanks to anyone who reads this and has this cancer who understands.

  • Hi Cathw,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I have a different cancer (Leiomyosarcoma) but like you mine was in the vagina/labia. I had 2 surgeries and it took 8 weeks to heal fully, going to the toilet etc was very painful!

I just wanted to say hi and your not alone. I'm sure one of the admins and those that have more experience will be along shortly, (im only 8 minths into this journey) but stay strong and keep fighting

  • Hi and  a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read about your recent diagnosis but I'm sure that you'll find the vaginal cancer group, which I can see you've already posted in, will be a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment
