Hello everyone.
Not quite sure where to start but I'm hoping for some guidance and reassurance.
A couple of months ago I felt a hard lump in my neck probably the size of a marble. I've just had an ultrasound and fine needle biopsy. The radiographer showed me the image and said it's a solid lump 2cm in diameter. The consultant has the results and has booked me in for an MRI in 2 days time.
I'm now panicking because I haven't been told the results of the biopsy and am now thinking why would they send me for an MRI if its benign. They must be checking if its spread. Can anybody tell me the reason for the MRI please. Would they still send me for an MRI if its benign. The lump is in my lymph node.
Hi and welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups.
I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare incurable but treatable type of skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4a so I do know this journey well.
The fact that you have joined our Hodgkin lymphoma group says Lymphoma has been mentioned or you have done some online searches….. when you say a consultant are we talking about a Haematologist?
Having been on this road a long time it’s reassuring that you are being well checked out, are they looking for something specific or just being carful? - I have no idea.
But the tests you are having are the normal tests used to look for Lymphomas but other none cancer conditions as well.
The one thing is they are are not going to say it you have a blood cancer until they have some clear evidence so you have some waiting to do and some questions to ask.
Rest assured that ‘if’ you are diagnosed with HL or any other type of Lymphomas (there are 60 types) that this is very treatable with great results.
Always around to chat.
