Hello,
I’m nee here. My mum has had a diagnosis of Myeloma. Her sister died of this 2 years ago. Feeling hopeless
Hi and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your mum’s Myeloma diagnosis and that her sister died of the same condition a few years ago.
A blood cancer diagnosis in the family can be very challenging but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer journey will help you navigate this difficult time.
I was diagnosed with a different type of incurable blood cancer way back in 1999 so do understand the mind games in this.
There are many cancer types so likewise the Community has many cancer specific support groups and I see you have already joined and posted on our supportive Myeloma group as this will be a good place to connect with folks on the same cancer treatment pathway.
When it comes to the practical challenges of supporting someone you may benefit from talking with others caring for family and friends so do check out our Carers only and Supporting someone with incurable cancer groups where you will connect with others supporting family and friends
It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.
We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section.
All the very best ((hugs))
Thank you,
I do appreciate you replying. I hope you are feeling okay. I’ll check out the support you have linked to. Many thanks x
I am doing good thank you. Although I have had many many treatments including two Allo (donor) Stem Cell Transplants I have now been in remission for over 4 years now - so living the dream.
Do check out the support areas available in the community.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
