Hi (Fran) and welcome to the Online Community.
It might be a good idea to take a look at the Chemotherapy forum which covers treatments and side effects. I myself didn't have chemotherapy but I believe it's called a cold cap. Some ladies in my group who were treated with it wrote they didn't lose their hair but it had thinned. You don't say what cancer you are receiving the chemo for. If you join the group for the relevant cancer you'll also get more answers from people undergoing the same treatment.
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. You can amend or update it at any time.
The Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000. Most services are available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two to three working days for replies from our expert team.
Sending you welcoming hugs B xx

Hi Fran
You're very welcome. Sorry to hear you abandoned the cold cap - I can't recall anyone mentioning it being heavy.
When I first received my cancer diagnosis I thought I'd lose my hair and was quite excited at the prospect of going blonde or a redhead for the first time in my life! Instead I had Brachytherapy which is, in effect, a radioactive tampon!
Please do join our other forums, peer support here is second to none.
Sending you all the best, B xx
