Hey guys my mum is undergoing cancer treatment of the esophagus. She's just completed her 4 lots of chemo to begin with. I've noticed my anxiety etc kick on due to the stress as you can imagine being alongside helping where I can etc. I was wondering if there's any forums or groups etc to help talk for the mental health side of being the carer or loved one of someone going through chemo. I've Ben through mind in the past so I have contacts but wondered if there was one specifically for cancer due to topics etc.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your mum has oesophageal cancer and I know what a difficult time this will be for you.

The community has different support groups including the carers only group, which is just for carers of people with cancer, and also the family and friends group, which is for anyone who has a loved one dealing with cancer.

To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
