Have we left it too late?

My father has been moved to the palliative care team at a good local hospital, we as a family want to get him home but his condition is deteriorating quite quickly. It seemed he would come home today but a care plan has not been prepared in time.

We've been given conflicting advice on his needs. Either to discharge himself and hope the GP will be able to respond quickly enough or to wait until the hospital catch up.

His mental state is foggy and the responsibility for any decisions is falling very much on the shoulders of my mother which is an awful place for her to be at the moment.

As much as I and friends want to be involved I'm unsure where to go from here - I think mum would prefer the thought of a hospice but as I mentioned above - have we left it to late?

I understand nothing is perfect but for the family to have regrets about my father's passing would be very raw for Mum. Things are strained as it is I could do with some advice...

Thanks for reading.
