Good afternoon nice to meet all of you I am candy I am 47 year old female from Barbados. I was diagnosed within the last 2 months with invasive ductal carcinoma stage 3 , my tumor is 4 cm. I have had so far one course of taxol and carboplatin. I was not sick the tumor came up last year with a period but when period was finished it also disappeared. But after being quarantined in January it came back with the period but never left. In Barbados we don’t have any facilities that has all the doctors needed in the same place so I was from appointment to appointment. I have no medical insurance so I have to pay for treatments and appointments out of pocket. I am still scared and don’t k ow what to expect I just entered into a mortgage and I have one daughter. So far my side effects have been constipation headaches muscle pains and today 25 June my scalp is extremely sore so I cut my hair. I am what people call a warrior I fight everything and right now I am ready to fight this cancer with everything I have.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but sorry that you had to find us. I am especially sorry to hear about your BC diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis can be very challenging but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer journey will help you navigate this difficult time I see you have joined and posted in our supportive Breast cancer group as this will be a good place to connect with patients and family on the same cancer treatment pathway.

There may well be differences between treatments in the UK and Barbados be we do have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

    All the very best ((hugs))
