I was diagnosed with Hormonal Breast cancer on the 11 June, I'm 33. I also have Chronic Depression and Anxiety which I've had since I was 17. I've had quite a few biopsies taken, most in one sitting, yesterday (had two done the first time I visited the clinic, 4 June), also had two ultra-sounds, one mammogram and an MRI (I hope I never need another one of those!!), got a CT scan on Friday and a video call with a Fertility consultant this afternoon, then a phone call with the surgeon on the 2 July. It's all just gone over my head, I've found if I don't think about it, and sort of "forget" about it, I can deal with it better. I have very few friends, and most of my family aren't local to me, I have my partner but he works shifts so going to potentially be spending alot of time alone. I'm not even sure it's properly sunk in, I'm just..numb, if that makes sense? So many huge decisions, and almost no time to think..advice please..

  • Hi LavenderSunshine

Welcome and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It absolutely does make sense that you feel numb, a cancer diagnosis is a scary thing to get.  Go with whatever treatments your medical team decide to give you as they are the experts.

Breast Cancer is very treatable these days.  I was diagnosed with Triple negative breast cancer last year and after Chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now cancer free. I set up a WhatsApp group with my family and closest friends which I find very useful as I don't have to repeat myself when letting them know how I'm doing.  Keep doing the things you love and try and get out for walks when you can as that can help with any side effects your treatment gives you.

Best of luck with your CT Scan on Friday and with whatever treatments your medical team decide to give you.

    Best wishes

Thank you, glad you hear you're now cancer free!! That's a good idea with the Whatsapp group, hate repeating myself.

  • Hi  and a second welcome to the online community

Although I was diagnosed with a different type of cancer I recognise the numb feeling that you describe.

I can see that you've already found and joined the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. You could copy and paste your post here into a new post there and, if you want to do this, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.
