Hi, I am pleased to have found this forum and would welcome anybodys opinions, advice and experiences.
In 2019 I had a lumpectomy, upper right lobe, stage 1,the surgery was a complete success but shortly afterwards was taken ti ICU,with various issues.I spent a week on the unit, and the planned adjuvant chemo was cancelled as I had been so ill !
So then came Covid
At my next appointment,I casually said that I had experienced mild pain in my chestbone area.Had all the scans, resulting that my cancer had spread to my sternum ,both shoulders and 'good' left lung.It was stage 4 and I was treated as Palliative.
I had 4 sessioms of palliative radiotherapy, which went well.
Then in March,I spent the month, minus a day on the Palliative ward with double pneumonia, there are periods when I had no recollection, yet had coherent conversations. My family were told to prepare themselves and suddenly, thanks to the wonderful care,I started to improve. My sister now calls me Lazarus!!!
So now here I am,a bit nervous but in a positive frame of mind.
I am having my pre-assessment on Friday for immunotherapy/pembrolizmab(Keytruda,r)to start on 28th June with 21days intervals. So I would be interested in anyones experiences, warts and all.Thanking you in advance.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you have recently discovered that your lung cancer has spread and I know what a worrying time this will be for you. However, it's great to hear how you pulled through from double pneumonia and that you're soon to be starting immunotherapy.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the lung cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with this type of cancer. I know there are people there who are on immunotherapy and I'm sure they'll be happy to share their experiences with you.
To join just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
x
