If someone told me I would be here writing this 10 weeks ago I wouldn’t have believed them!!
My husband had a kidney stone and ended up in A&E with a kidney infection, he then developed a blood clot in his jugular vein which he was also hospitalised for because it is so rare.
6 weeks later a terminal diagnosis of metastatic esophageal cancer (he had this cancer 4 years ago, it was caught really early and only needed basic treatment- no radio therapy or chemo , we felt lucky !
it’s now in his bones , lymph nodes and lungs
unfortunately his kidneys have been damaged so much (and they don’t really know why) his iron levels and white blood cells are extremely low so he is already really poorly
he has been in and out of hospital for the last 10 weeks and has been passed from pillar to post because of all of the different things going on.
we are hoping and praying they can get him well enough to try chemo to get more time , we are not ready to say goodbye
Diane
Hi Diane and welcome to the online community
I'm really sorry to learn that your husband has been diagnosed with metastatic oesophageal cancer and I know what a difficult time this will be for you both.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the oesophageal cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others who have this type of cancer, and also the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and discuss your emotions as well as practical issues.
To join just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you feel up to it it would be great if you could pop something about your husband's journey with cancer into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
