Hi All

i feel so so bad writing this but the truth is I can’t keep it in anymore, my wife is going through breast cancer for the second time in 5 years, she had a mastectomy in December and has just finished her 12th and final chemotherapy session, truth is she smashed it and I’m so proud of her, we have a beautiful 2 year old son who means the absolute world to me, we’re currently awaiting a PET scan as they were concerned about 2 potentially cancerous lymph nodes, one on her neck and another in her chest (both are in areas where you cannot get to) we are also awaiting a radiotherapy appointment

I feel absolutely ashamed and distraught with myself as I have been with somone else, this happened once and I have felt sick ever since, I’m still trying to figure out why I did this to my beautiful wife and our boy, and I’m frightened that I’ve lost everything, but even more frightened that this is something else she is having to deal with after dealing with so much already, I’m speaking to a councillor (early days) as I need to understand why I did this, has anyone else been in this situation?

thank you for reading

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis and the turmoil you are facing.

A cancer diagnosis in the family can be very challenging and can effect everyone in the family in so many ways. I am glad that you are talking with councillor as this will help you understand the challenges that cancer brings to the family.

You may find talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer support journey will also help you navigate this difficult time. I see that you have joined our supportive Carers only group where you will connect with others supporting family and friends

To go to the group just click on the link above then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones). You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, support or just a listening ear.

    All the very best.
