Hi
I have had endometrial cancer, diagnosed in 2020, just before the pandemic hit. A week before the diagnosis I lost my job as the company I worked for went into administration. I had a hysterectomy and then chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I thankfully got the all clear in January and so started looking for another job.
I applied for so many positions and really felt that some didn't take me because of the cancer and reading between lines "didn't want the hassle" of employing someone who had been ill. This has also made me feel sometimes like I am not worthy or unable to do the job I love. However I did get a job with a charity, which I have never worked for before and so a real joy to be working for an organisation who make a difference in the world.
The problem I have is that because I haven't worked for over a year, I have lost my confidence in what I do and keep having waves of serious self doubt in my knowledge and capability.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can you suggest and coping mechanisms? Any suggestions would be so gratefully received.
TIA
Abi
