Hi, first time posting!

I was diagnosed with HG DCIS with necrosis last October and had a lumpectomy and 5 days radiation at the end of last/beginning of this year.

My follow up oncology appointment (by phone) has been cancelled & rearranged 5 times so I have some unanswered questions.

My local NHS trust does not test for/provide details of the hormone status of the matter removed when it is DCIS.

Is this normal?

I am having lots of menopause symptoms (not least hot flushes which mean I get v little sleep).

Is HRT something that can be considered given my DCIS history? Has anyone else any experience of this?

Thanks for reading & TIA for any comments

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

It's natural to have questions and wonder about what could be causing symptoms when you've had a cancer diagnosis.

I can see that you've already found and joined the breast cancer group and this would be a great place to ask your questions as well as share experiences and give and receive support.

When you're ready to post there just click on the link I've created and then start a new post in the same way as you did here You can also have a look through the existing posts and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your journey with cancer into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
