I was diagnosed with secondary bone cancer to the spine  in October 20 I was initially on palcociclib and hormone injections with monthly Zometa but was switched to Paclitaxel in March. I am just about to have #11 of 18.

I had stage 3 breast cancer in 2006 for  which I had chemotherapy, lumpectomy, mastectomy and radiotherapy.
It is a complete shock that 14 years later I have cancer again.
I was lucky enough to have a biopsy which showed that my cancer is no longer hormone receptive, this also explained why the Palcociclib wasn’t working. It also means that I can be put forward for trials.

I have to admit that I am finding the treatment difficult and that I am unable to do anything because of the pain in my spine. I have always been very active and finding that I can’t do the things I used to is extremely upsetting and frustrating. My family are brilliant and have really stepped up to help.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your new diagnosis. So frustrating after all these years.

A cancer diagnosis can be very challenging and worrying in so many ways but I found talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey helped me navigate this difficult time so can I recommend you join our supportive Bone, secondary cancer group and I see you have already found our main Bone cancer groups as this will be a good place to connect with patients and family on the same cancer treatment pathway.

To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available.

This service provides lots of cancer information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

We also have Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers check our Online Information and Support Section

    All the very best ((hugs))
