I'm new to this group so not sure where to start. In May my dad (step dad) was diagnosed with terminal cancer. A few days ago he was told the outcome for slowing the cancer down was not very good either. We don't know how long he has left they said it could be a few weeks or months. The reason I'm posting this is because I'm absolutely heart broken and I cannot stand the thought of him not being here with us. All I do is cry and feel angry that hes being taken away. I was just wondering if anyone has been through this and does it get easier.
Hey love, I'm sorry about your news. Ive had the exact same with my dad 5 weeks ago. I'm lost... on autopilot trying to juggle work and family aswell, I can't comprehend last Christmas was his last. I do know though... that we're not on our own... this forum will help. Wishing you strength xx
Hi and welcome to the Online Community but sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your dad’s diagnosis. I lost my mum rather suddenly back in November (not to cancer) and 7 months on it’s still raw but we continually celebrate Alice well lived.
A cancer diagnosis like this in the family can be challenging in so many ways but you will find talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey will help you navigate this difficult time and when it comes to the practical challenges of supporting someone you may benefit from talking with others caring for family and friends so do check out our Carers only and supporting someone with incurable cancer groups as you will connect with others supporting family and friends through their cancer journey.
