My husband was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in January, He had a colostomy in early Feb followed by 4 rounds of chemo. Each treatment got worse each time, the final one has caused such severe diarrhoea that he ended up with dehydration, blood clotting deficiency and really low blood pressure, has anyone else experienced this?
Hi and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community but sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis and ongoing challenges.
I have a totally different cancer but during my 750 hrs of chemo indeed had these issues he is experiencing.
A cancer diagnosis in the family can be challenging in so many ways but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer journey can help you navigate this difficult time.
The Community is organised into support groups and I see you joined our supportive Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer group, this will be a good place to connect with patients and families navigating the same type of cancer journey.
To go to the group just click on the link above then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
When it comes to the practical challenges of supporting someone you may benefit from talking with others caring for family and friends so do check out our Family and friends and Carers only groups as you will connect with others supporting family and friends through their cancer journey.
