Hi all.
On 25 May 2018 after showing no symptoms I was rushed into our local hospital - the Royal Stoke - in the morning and by the end of the day had had my large bowel removed and adopted my stoma, nicknamed Vladimir Poopin. My surgeon said if I had to have any tumour I got the right one, stage 2, that hadn’t spread anywhere. Lucky? Suppose so.
At my annual PETscan they discovered that out of nowhere 5 aggressive tumours had formed in the abdominal wall. This was on 21 December 2018. Stage 4 - incurable and inoperable. Happy Christmas to me and Mel, my partner. Early January 2019 I started an aggressive chemo course - let’s stick it to the buggers!
On 18 June 2020 the cancer went into remission. On 21 March 2021 was told that even the tumours couldn’t be found.
During this time I have started Facebook page for people suffering from this disease. It had been mainly for men that I’ve had to change the description. We have members from the Uk, the USA, and India (there’s only 129 members so far. I am now looking to create a charity to help sufferers of peritoneal cancer. I don’t want to disclose the names on this site.
My chemo treatments go on, 8 hours every 4th Tuesday then 48 hours with the old chemo pump being carried around. Sadly my oncologist says I may never come off the treatment but it’s better than the obvious.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
That's great news that your cancer has gone into remission. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
I see that you have joined the peritoneal cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
It would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
