Hi all. So my partner got diagnosed 6 weeks ago with non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He’s had his first chemo and at first appeared to be fine. Now he’s super tired. I find myself forgetting he’s ill because he looks fine and expecting things of him which when I remember he’s poorly I realise are unachievable. I get angry that’s he’s lazy then remember he’s poorly! Anyone else forget their other halves are struggling or am I a terrible person?
Hi and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your partners Lymphoma diagnosis.
I am Mike Thehighlander and I help out around our blood cancer groups. I was diagnosed back in 1999 with a rare skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma so have been on this journey rather a long time.
You are not a terrible person, you are just trying to navigate a terrible journey but you will gradually find the best way forward.
Fatigue is unfortunately one of the side effects and may well build up over time so take each day as it comes but at the same time he needs to keep some activity going as this does actually help overcome some of the fatigue.
There are over 60 types and subtypes of Lymphoma so we can’t have a group for every type but these are our main Lymphoma groups below:
