My 27 year old Son passed away this week after having leukaemia then a bone marrow transplant. We are heartbroken. How do we go on? We are finding it hard to accept

  • Hi  I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your son, do accept my deepest condolences.

Blood cancers like Leukaemia can at times be very aggressive and moving on to have Bone Marrow Transplant is always full of risks with no guarantees.

I have had two Stem Cell Transplants for my rare type of Lymphoma and so far this are ok but it was a very challenging journey.

You would benefit from talking with others who understand where you are at and how to get through this. The Community has many supportive groups but can I highlight our Bereaved family and friends group as this will be a good place for you to connect with families navigating the same type of challenges.

To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.

It’s always good to talk so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service can give lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear. We also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

I do send my love and ((hugs))
