Hi,
I have recently been diagnosed with DLBCL from a malignent testicle biopsy and am having a PET scan on Monday and starting six cycles of R-CHOP, radiotherapy on remaining testicle and intercalated high-dose methotrexate on 13th May. Presumably some of those may change depending on PET scan results ?
I am a 76 year old guy and fit for my age, walking an hour or two every day. A CT scan showed no indication of spread, and I have no other symptoms, so am hopeful that the treatment will be success, but mindful that the next few months are going to be a bit challenging ! Can't complain though as only had a kidney stone and hernia repair in 76 years!!
Hi and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) diagnosis.
A blood cancer diagnosis can be challenging in so many ways but talking with others who are walking the same type of cancer treatment journey will help you navigate this difficult time.
The Community is organised into cancer specific support groups so can I recommend you join our supportive Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma group as this will be a good place to connect with patients and families navigating the same type of cancer treatment journey.
To join a group just click on the link above then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens.
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or hit the box with the X on the top right (phones), you could just copy and paste the text from this your first post. You can also join in with existing ‘Discussions’ by clicking on 'reply'.
i will keep an eye open for you as I have been on my NHL journey for over 21 years now.
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply, very helpful ! But my God....what you've been through...brings tears to my eyes just reading it!!
It's great to have a guy like you on a forum to respond to new members and give good advice and encouragement just when we need it.
Hope the weather up there is as good as it is here in Cornwall !!??
Cheers,
Ken
Hi again Ken , I am glad to say that very few folks follow a treatment path like my one basically because of the rare type of Skin NHL and it was a journey of discovery using all the new treatments that were coming a long.
As you will see I am in Inverness so the big bright ball in the sky is out and this is our view at the moment.
I see you have joined the DBLCL group and although I have a different type of NHL some of the treatments are similar so I do keep an eye and help out as best as I can..... do put up a post and introduce yourself to the group.
