Hi, I went for a colonoscopy last Tues and biopsies taken of a mass in my rectum. Ct scan this Wed and mri on Fri, all a shock as I wasn't prepared for any of this. Been bleeding for ages but no words of suspected cancer and doctor said at colonoscopy that I must have been expecting bad news. I wasn't and all still seems surreal. I have no idea what to expect or what to do.

  • Hi Luclem47 and a warm welcome to the Online Community but sorry you find the need to join us. I am also so sorry to hear about your Bowel cancer diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis indeed brings confusion, stress and many questions but I found talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helped a lot.

The Online Community is organised into dedicated support groups and I would suggest you join our supportive Bowel cancer group, this is a good place where you will connect with others walking the same journey. Follow the above link then introduce yourself, post questions or just join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    Sending welcoming hugs, B xHugging
