Hi,

my husband is on Pregabalin and Longtec Oxycodone twice a day. With top ups of liquid Oxycodone every two hours if needed.

he was originally on morphine ended up overdosing because it was too much too soon, then onto the Oxy.
now we seem to be having issues with him staying awake for anything more than half an hour, he can sleep the whole day and is feeling drowsy and unable to function.

Is this normal? What are other people experiencing with these meds?

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

It must be very hard on both of you if your husband is feeling sleepy all the time.

So that I can point you in the direction of a group here who can share their experiences with you, could you tell me what sort of cancer your husband is being treated for please.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

He has stage 4 lung cancer spread to nearly all his bones and also to his lymph’s. It had already spread when we found out. He is meant to start chemo and immunotherapy next week as life extending hopefully otherwise the consensus was he had only a matter of weeks or short months left.

    Hop this helps,

    Alichia.

  • Thanks for that information Alichia

There are a few groups which I think might be good for you to join. The first are the lung cancer and the secondary bone cancer groups which are great places to ask questions and share experiences with others who are going through treatment. The lung cancer group in particular is full of very friendly and helpful people.

The other group is the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries with others who are caring for someone living with cancer.

To join any or all of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any problems navigating the site just reply to this post and I'll be pleased to try and help.
