Hello group,
I am going through the tests for parathyroid tumours as my bloods have shown elevated calcium and PTH. It's taken a while to get to this as I've spent a good few months feeling fatigued and thirsty and even hungover when I'd not even had any alcohol. I feel cheated! Seriously though, I got to a point in which I was thinking that I was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. It's ironic that it's just four little pea-sized fellas in my throat.
However I've done the (probably stupid) internet research but reading through everything I'm thinking maybe I'm a lucky one in that this can be fixed easily with surgery.
I'm worried though because I've had a swollen gland in my jawline for months and I've just passed it off as being run down. But when I get my head in one of those worry sessions I start thinking the worst in that things may have spread and then I'm in one of those worry spirals.
Has anyone in this forum had treatment for parathyroid tumors and did you ever experience swollen lymph nodes around the same time? Is it something of nothing?
Hi there ,
Firstly let me welcome you to the online community although I’m sorry you’ve had the need to find us.
Your feelings are completely understandable, my cancer diagnosis, although different to yours is one that often goes misdiagnosed for sometime so I know what you mean about feeling ‘cheated’. I don’t know much about thyroid cancers so I’m going to post a link for you & if you click on it it should take you to the thyroid cancer group where you’ll find others that have more experience of your diagnosis. Thyroid cancer forum . We also have our Ask an Expert facility although you need to allow 2 working days for a reply from our experts.
I think all of us have at some point referred to Dr Google, I learned very quickly only to use reputable sites such as this site & cancer research etc., as there’s some really unreliable & outdated information out there that’s guaranteed to send you into a tailspin.
I hope your tests go ok & you find some reassurance over in the thyroid group.
Nicola
Hi Nicola,
Thanks so much for replying and your kind words. Thanks also for directing me towards a more specific group. I wasn't sure if the Thyroid group coveted paras too, hence me joining this one thinking it was more general. I'll certainly join that one and have a look out for more information.
Jonathan
