Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, with incurable peritoneal cancer stage 4 in May 2017 and in April of this year I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. My secondaries are in my lung and bones. One good thing is that the secondary areas are quite small. I also suffer from BRCA 1 mutation. I seem to have dealt with it all quite well but these last few weeks I have really started to struggle. I have a loving family who I can talk to but with everything else that is going on I feel they have enough on. I would appreciate any support anyone can offer me
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to read how much you've had to deal with but you've come to the right place for support.
I can see that you've already found and joined the secondary breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. I know the group has a thread called 'positive secondary breast cancer stories' which you might like to have a look through.
Another group that you might like to think about joining is the peritoneal cancer group. If this is something you think you'd like to do then just click on the link I've created which will take you straight there.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi
I am not sure if I can be of any support but I am happy to listen should you ever want to talk. I also have stage 4 incurable cancer. Like you I have a very supportive family and also feel I have coped reasonably well with the diagnosis but sometimes there are things you want to get off your chest without having to leave a family member knowing you are feeling or thinking that way. If you ever fancy a chat feel free to drop me a message.
that should say stage 4 peritoneal cancer which is incurable. Sorry was nervous and rushed it as its the first reply I've left for anyone. Only joined today.
Hi. Thank you very much for your message. It is nice to talk to someone going through the same thing. I too have cancer in my lung and bones and this is due to secondary breast cancer. Fortunately the areas are only very small. We are both fortunate that we have supportive families but sometimes I just feel like they are suffering enough without me offloading my every feeling. I have struggled with anxiety this last few months due to the coronavirus, worrying about my health. I hope your treatment is going well and that we can keep in touch. I too had chemotherapy following having part of my vowel removed and I too tolerated the chemo quite well. I suppose that in itself shows that we must be made of pretty tough stuff. Thank you again for your message and it has helped me to be able to talk to you
Ah It is nice to have someone who seems like they are in the same boat. I totally understand what you are saying about feeling like the family are suffering enough. It feels like you just don't wanna add more to the heavy weight you know they are already carrying and sometimes it would be nice to be able to say something and it not be an ongoing thing that people have to worry about. You just say it in that moment and then its said and gone but I feel like my family would carry that around with them like a burden and I don't wanna do that to them. I am really sorry that these are the circumstances we are in contact under but also very glad to be in touch. I have dropped you a private message more so just to open that line of communication if you felt like it. Hope you are taking care of yourself.
