Hi, I'm 49 years old and was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer 2 years ago, I had a mastectomy but there is a tumour behind my sternum which is inoperable. I have been told I will be on chemo for life!!!! however long that will be (I have my ball of string).
I have noticed a big change in my personality over the last few months - angry, impatient, stressed, tired - I don't like the new me and my anger and short temper scares me.
I;m looking for inspiration to see how other people have felt and coped.
Best wishes to everybody on here looking for help and to all the awesome staff and volunteers at Macmillan. x
Morning
Warm welcome to the Mac Community, even if you would prefer not to be here :-/
Hope that ball of string is jumbo size - I'm assuming the chemo is to stabilise and hopefully shrink the tumour down. Maybe even enabling surgery at a later date, or is that a definite no no ?
No wonder you have a bit of a personality change only to be expected while you come to terms all the 'what if's'
There is a Secondary Breast Group here - The link in that group will take you to the Secondary Breast Cancer Positive Stories discussion (8 pages) There are a lot of messages of hope in there but if you feel you would like to start a new discussion as an intro to chat with the other lovely ladies there just click the 'Join This Group' button under the groups title
Fingers crossed once you get settled in the group and find others facing a similar scenario is will help you turn a corner and get to feel more like your old self ?
Got to ask are smokey / smudge cats or dogs ?
Hope this is of some help for now, best wishes, G n' J
Thank you DreamThief - I appreciate your words. Unfortunately surgery is a no no and after 10 months of chemo it is only stable and not shrinking :-(
I am a definite 'Dogs' x
Good morning,
I have just realised I misread your message, so when I replied I'm definite dogs it wouldn't have made much sense............. whoops
No smokey and smudge are not pets, it was just a name I put together many years ago based on a couple of previous nicknames I had.xx
