Hi my name is Sarah

my husband was diagnosed last February with primary bowel cancer which had spread to his liver. He received chemo and responded well, so much so we married in June after 20 years together! However the cancer spread to his lymph nodes and bones and 2 days before lock down we were told there’s nothing more can be done and he has 12 weeks to live.

it’s just so hard seeing him in pain on a daily basis and wasting away .. we had so many plans and this pandemic is not helping us through - not seeing his family and friends.

i am a person who is quiet and so I don’t reach out but my friend encouraged me to open the door a little, so here I am!!

stay strong

  • Hi and a warm welcome to our Online Community, although I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I'm so glad that you took your friend's advice. You might like to pop in and see our Carers Only group as well. They're a nice bunch of supportive folks. Yes, it is hard watching our loved ones suffer and the whole lockdown thing makes it so much harder to bear. The prognosis is a dodgy thing, we can never be sure how long so spend time enjoying his energy when he's feeling easier and doing the little things our husbands love, the nice meals (recipes  for people affected by cancer if it's useful) and comfort things. I'm sure you'll find lots of support soon. There's also a group for those supporting someone with incurable cancer. It's a special group that I'm sure you'll get a lot of support from.

    Sending love and hugs,

    LoobyLou
